Recurring costs

Recurring costs are subscriptions and repeating expenses. Add one from the Recurring Costs tile with a name, an amount, how often it repeats (daily, weekly, monthly or yearly) and a start date. Add an end date if it stops.

  • Each cost is charged in full on its billing dates, from its start date to today, in every total and chart. See How Tilelytix calculates your numbers.
  • The tile shows a projected overhead for the timeframe you choose; its default is a tile setting (gear icon).

Payments you logged yourself

If you already entered the payment in Manual Transactions, link it instead of counting it twice:

  • Use Make recurring on the entry: it becomes the new cost's first payment, and the cost starts on its date. If a cost with that name already exists, you are asked whether the entry is one of its payments.
  • Adding a cost by hand: if Tilelytix finds a matching expense (the same name, or the same amount within a week of the start date), it asks whether that is the first payment. Choose it, or keep both if they really are different.
  • In the Edit window of a cost with no first payment, pick one from the suggested entries.

Changing a cost

When you change the amount, billing cycle or billing date, choose how it applies:

  • From a date onward (for a price rise or a new billing day): charges before the date stay exactly as they were. Set Next charge on to move the billing day, or leave it empty to keep it.
  • The whole history (to fix a mistake): every charge since the start uses the new values, and the first payment entry changes to match.

A new start date always changes the whole history. The Edit window lists the price and schedule history; Undo removes a later change. Renaming a cost renames its linked entries too.

Stopping a cost

  • End it (from its delete button): no charges after today, and past charges stay in your totals. Use this when a subscription stops.
  • Delete it completely: removes the cost and every charge it ever made. Its linked entries stay in Manual Transactions and count on their own, unless you tick the box to delete them as well.

Prefer to count only what you log? Choose Logged transactions only in Settings, Finance rules.
